Education programs
Funding
We financially support every doctoral course student in our Graduate School and provide extra support for selected students who have the potential to become leading international scientists. We also support several young postdocs who have just graduated from our doctoral course.
Organization of International Student Workshop
We invite about 10 students/researchers each from CAS-IGDB and UCD-BS to participate in workshops on specific subjects every year.
Organization of International Lectures
We invite several teaching staff from UCD-BS each year to give lectures and lead discussions with students and researchers.
Organization of Summer Camp
We organize an annual Summer Camp at Awaji Island, in which every student presents and discusses their annual research progress.
Presentation of research achievements at international meetings by students and postdocs
We send all COE-funded students and postdocs to international and domestic meetings once a year, so that they have more opportunities for presentations and discussions with overseas scientists.
Japan-China-USA network for research and education
We form the NAIST-BS (Japan)-CAS-IGDB (China)-UCD-BS (USA) network. We establish a committee comprising scientists from all three partners. We invite about 10 students/researchers each from CAS-IGDB and UCD-BS to participate in workshops on specific subjects every year. We also receive students/researchers from the two partner institutions and give them opportunities to work in NAIST laboratories.
