International Student Workshop 2007 - Summary -

The 1st International Student Workshop (sponsored by NAIST Global COE Program) was held at Welsunpia Kyoto from October 15 to 17, 2007. A total of 38 graduate students (13 from University of California, Davis, 12 from Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Science, and 13 from Graduate School of Biological Sciences, NAIST) participated in the joint seminar and presented their research progress in English. Students were divided into groups of 5 or 6 students from US, China, and Japan, shared Japanese-style rooms, and eat in the same tables. Many US and Chinese students enjoyed big communal baths when encouraged by Japanese students. After living together for three days, participating students knew each other well, and were deeply involved in discussing research results.
